Tiny Mustards, Montessori house of children was founded by Mrs. Rose Thomas in the year 2019. She is a mother of 2 children and her own Montessori journey started when she enrolled her elder son into a Montessori school in 2014 and was awestruck by how it shaped him, the environment, the Montessori materials and the Philosophy. She pursued her Montessori, Pre-Primary (2.5yrs-6yrs) course from IMTC (Indian Montessori Training Center) JP Nagar in 2015. She was working with a leading Montessori school prior to starting her own dream in 2019 with a vision to gift children the love for learning and a holistic development in their early years. She is the Montessori Directress as well as a Montessori guide at Tiny Mustards. She along with her dedicated, passionate, trained team of Montessori guides and support staff, our dear Mustards and our lovely parents form the backbone of the Tiny Mustards family.

1.In Montessori environment, it is the child who takes their learning forward, has the freedom to choose their activity, which helps the child to develop will power. 2.One-to-one learning enables the Montessori guide (Teacher) to help the child based on their individual learning style and pace. 3.Child centric activities, where the Montessori guide (Teacher)is just the facilitator. 4. Scientifically prepared Montessori material which enable the child to explore and learn through analysis of mental movements than in abstraction. 5.Mixed age group (2 ½-6yrs in the same environment) gives the child the scope for social and emotional development. 6.Dignity of labour - they are responsible for their work. For e.g., if anything spills, they will clean it up on their own, which helps the child to move towards independence. 7.Inculcating the sense of order. When they take a material to work with from the shelf, after completing that work they have to keep it back in its original place. 8.Developing focus and concentration in a child through activities which takes time to complete. 9.Respecting the other child’s space. Each child takes a mat and works on their mat only. 10.The child has the freedom to choose their work, repeat it as long as they want, move around without disturbing others, talk and help others, if required, in the environment. 11.The special relation they share with the Montessori guide is much more than just a teacher. 12.Children are encouraged to write their own words and sentences which help them to develop creative writing and clarity of thought. 13.Spelling are corrected only in the last year and importance is given in expressing themselves. 14.All the activities the child does, prepares the child to develop graceful movements. 15.Montessori activities and the prepared environment aids in the normalisation of children having any deviation. This happens when all the three integral powers- Intelligence, Will and Movement becomes synchronised. 16.Gifted children have unlimited scope to explore and learn in all areas.
If the child is on diapers, we will help the child to wean away from it after he/she settles down in the environment. Being part of a group, they learn from each other. When the child sees other children using the washroom, they are also inspired to use it. Our helpers are there for the child’s assistance.
A Montessori child is well versed with the concepts. The admission criteria for Grade 1 is based on the child’s performance during the evaluation process at the school of your preference. In order to help your child’s transition to regular school, we have an Extended Session program where the child is introduced to the black board and focus is given to help them settle to the conventional learning methodology. Once your child graduates from Tiny Mustards, he/she is ready for being onboarded to CBSE/ICSE/Montessori Elementary/International Boards.
The school timings for first year children ie, M1 (2.5yrs to 3.5yrs) is from 9am to 12pm, which will be 3 hrs after the child settles down happily. We respect the settling period of each child. Each child is unique and some children take more time to settle in. But once they settle down, the child is comfortable moving around, happy and is open to be part of his/her group. The school timings for 2nd year ie, M2+ (3.5yrs to 6yrs) is from 9am to 1pm.
Our Ratio is 1:12
The Exercise of Practical Life in the Montessori methodology helps your child to develop their fine motoring skills. The child will be introduced to tracing the sounds of the English Alphabet and numbers through sandpaper letters and numbers. A Montessori child would start writing in Cursive at Tiny Mustards when he/she is working with Moveable alphabet box making 3 letter words when they are around 4 years. Initially when the child starts writing we don’t emphasise on perfection but you would see beautiful hand writing when the child is around 5 years old and this is mastered through practice. A child will start writing numbers when they are around 4 years old.
An authentic Montessori school like Tiny Mustards has a mixed age group (M1, M2, M3) – younger children look up to learning from the older ones in a group and the older ones take care of the younger ones. This helps your child to also observe, analyze, learn and understand. We do not have a segregation as followed in regular playschools.
